The land of Lindora has laws against all forms of Necromancy. A practitioner of the Dark Arts could be arrested, tried, convicted, and executed all without having cast a single spell and all inside of the same five minutes. The only pre-requisite for immediate sentencing is setting foot across the border. But not all necromancers are created equal...
On occasion, a foe will enter Lindora that is too powerful for the local guards. When this occurs, troops from the Lindoran army will be called in to handle the situation. When even this is not enough, the Lindorans send for the Witchmeullers.
Witchmeullers, or Witch-hunters as they often referred to, are a specialized group of fighter-mages trained specifically to deal with the most vile of necromancers ("Death Mages"). They never travel alone, except in the most dire of circumstances, and take their orders directly from the Lindoran Military High Command. Under the right conditions, even the Regents must answer to the Hunters.
A Witchmeuller is taken from those few Lindorans who show potential in magik. They are almost always empowered by the Divine and follow the twin Goddesses of the sun though Restorative mages are known to be accepted on occasion. After an introductory training period of at least four years, a Witchmeuller is given an enchanted object which alerts them to the presence of necromatic magik and daemonic activity. Depending on the strength of the source, a Witchmeuller can detect them from several leagues away.
In the years following the invasion of Lindora by Dakkor's House Urth, the surviving Witchmeullers have begun taking on converts and willing trainees from Halgudar in addition to taking on older and less trained fighter-mages out of desperation.
Uniform
The Witchmuellers wear a green shirt with a blue surcoat and a brown short brimmed hat. Leather pauldrons with stone disks denote rank.
Their holy symbol is always that of a sun.
